From challenge to solution

01
Challenge

Problem / challenge

Early raspberry production is strongly influenced by low spring temperatures and rapidly changing weather. Young shoots require protection, but the covering material must also provide enough space for plant development and remain practical during installation and removal.

02
Goal

Project goal

The project aimed to support earlier and more uniform raspberry development while reducing the crop’s exposure to unfavourable early-season conditions.

03
Solution

Agrimpex solution

AGRIMPEX fluffy crop cover was placed over the raspberry rows to create an additional insulating layer around the plants. Its voluminous structure traps more air than a conventional lightweight covering and provides space for developing shoots.

The material was applied as a seasonal solution during the early growth stage and removed when weather conditions became stable.

04
Result

Effect / result

The covered rows developed in a more protected microclimate during the critical early stage of the season. The material provided additional space for shoot growth and demonstrated how a high-volume cover can be incorporated into professional raspberry production.

The project also provided useful visual material for comparing covered and uncovered sections of the plantation.

Detailed case study

A different approach to early crop protection

Fluffy crop cover is designed for applications where both insulation and additional space around the plants are important. Its voluminous structure creates a protective layer without pressing tightly against developing raspberry shoots.

Supporting the early growth stage

The cover was applied to commercial raspberry rows during the period of increased weather risk. Its purpose was to reduce exposure to cold conditions and support a more stable microclimate around the plants.

Seasonal and flexible use

The material can be introduced during the early part of the production cycle and removed when stable temperatures return. This makes it possible to adapt the protection strategy to current field conditions rather than relying on a permanent installation.

The project demonstrates how specialised crop covers can complement professional berry-production systems.
